Altus Heritage House Museum


Original German-American Bank, circa 1800s, features local memorabilia, early coal mining history as well as equipment.


Arkansas River Bridge


Listed as a Historic Bridge of the U. S. This bridge, spanning the Arkansas River, was constructed in 1929-31 and was listed as the most beautiful designed bridge in the United States by the American Institute of Steel Construction. Lighted at night. Travel west from Courthouse on Commercial Street, then South on 7th Street.


Arkansas Wine Country


The area's terrain and climate were suited for Swiss and German farmers for grape growing. Earliest customers included railroad workers and passengers and area miners. Currently five wineries and vineyards are within five miles of Ozark, they offer tastings, tours and products for purchase.


Ozark Area Depot Museum

The depot built in 1911 now houses Ozark's history and railroad memorabilia. Open Tues.- Sat, River St.


Ozark Courthouse Square Historic District

Several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places are within walking distance of the courthouse square. Brochures are available at the Tourist Infomation Center. 300 W. Commercial St.


Ozark Mural


A historic sand-carved mural that depicts the history of Ozark, as well as celebrating the heritage and citizens of the Ozark area.




Scenic Highway 23



Known as the "Pig Trail," this National Scenic Byway was named one of the top 10 scenic drives in the U.S. by the Lonely Planet and listed in USA Today as one of the top 10 greatest places to admire the peak foliage. Hwy. 215 along the Mulberry River; Ark. Hwy 301, a National Scenic Byway that winds to the top of Mount Magazine.


St. Mary's Catholic Church and Overlook

Known for its paintings and ornate gold leafs detail, this beautiful 1902 Roman Basilica style church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
